The turbolift seemed to not be functioning, though it was in a somewhat better state than it's counterpart. Still, some wiring would be needed to make this one work.

Halcyon was the first in here, hopefully followed by the rest of her team. She went to investigate the turbolift, realized the wiring was a just a little bit fucked. She didn’t know the first thing about Engineering. Unless it was about the machines in Medical, she knew a bit about those. “Can someone take a look at these wires? They’re damaged, but I don’t really know what to do with them.”

The first thing Allan, who was also here, tried to do was see if he could remove the turbolift's paneling to get a closer look at, well, whatever the fuck was going on here, probably to look at that wiring and see which bit of it was acting up - the motor? The transmitters? The short circuit? "Yeah, we're checking it out," he said to the medical officer.

"The two engineers are doing their thing!" Eshen said, gesturing to Allan and Alizati. "I think I might... Stand guard or something while they do, just in case." Maybe the stabby person was still here... Last time it'd been a ghost, he'd heard, so they couldn't be too careful.

Saren followed suit, essentially escorting the two engineers to the turbolift. He glanced at Eshen then, a small smile appearing on his lips: "Guess that makes the two of us? Even if I don't think that..." And suddenly he trailed off. Saren's brows furrowed, and his head turned sharply to the side, green eyes looking up, but-- Blink. Another blink. "S-sorry, I think my paranoia is getting the better of me..."

"It's fine." Eshen rested his hand on Saren's shoulder and looked around (and up - he'd seen horror movies, there were always Creatures on the ceiling), ears twitching, looking and listening and smelling for danger. It could be paranoia, but it could be not.

“Well.. in case anyone does get hurt, I’ve got a medical kit and more than basic first aid training. So you’re in good hands on my part.” She was hopeful she wouldn’t run into the Borg. Or at least she wouldn’t be the first to run into them. They scared her, more than anything else. Viruses, sussy Romulans, and Section 31 had nothing on her fear of being assimilated. But for now she was absentmindedly snapping her fingers. She didn’t stim very often, but this was a stressful situation and she deserved a little stress reducing every now and again as a treat.

The urge to essentially melt against Eshen's side was strong, but the feeling of the half-Vulcan's hand on his shoulder... perhaps it was enough to ground him. Saren was still looking up, listening... and hearing nothing. Maybe it was a shadow, or a speck of dust, that caused him to react like that?.. "I thought I heard something..." he explained, the sharp sound of the snapping fingers making his eye twitch, mouth pulled into a firm grimace not to show his teeth. "But it was nothing, it seems."

Hal, out of obliviousness rather than malice, continued to snap her fingers. She heard Saren speak though, but she didn’t have good Vulcanoid hearing like he did. She didn’t hear any noise. But what she did hear was Aoife out in the corridor asking for phasers. Seeking an opportunity to get out of this rather awkward environment, she left with a wave to go give Aoife a hand.

While the Romulan was being silly, Allan, after assessing the situation, would conclude that the things that needed to be fixed, were the short circuits. The voice recognition seemed to be wonky too, for some reason?

Lt. JG. Allan Allen | ENG BOT 22-Apr-23 08:34 PM
Short circuits. Alright, he knew what was going on here at least in that regard. After trying to see -how- the short circuits had gotten to this point (it would have been fairly obvious to see if the wires had been tampered with, or if the system had been overloaded to bypass the SCPD), he started repairing - despite the intensely loud noise coming from down the corridor - the SCPD itself in order to make sure the short circuits would, well, not short... circuit. Electrical terms sure were terms, okay? After that seemed to be working again, he went up to the actual door of the turbolift and, if he'd done that wiring correctly, it should have opened, and let him into the turbolift where the voice recognition device would probably be in the inside panel, if it was anything similar to Starfleet's turbolifts of course. "Okay, here's to hoping this will just open... no problem..." he said as he like, did that thing where you waved your hand trying to set off the motion sensor of a paper towel dispenser. "Also... what the fuck is going on down there?" (edited)

The echoes of her pained groan were felt here, too.

Eshen squeezed his eyes shut for a second as he not only heard but felt that rumbling sound in his bones, not to mention the phaser-fire, though he was less concerned about that because he knew it was just Aoife and Hal. "I don't know; let's just concentrate on our job in here and I'll comm them to ask if they know anything about the rumbling, though I have a feeling maybe the ship doesn't like it." Not literally, the ship wasn't sentient (or was it?), but structural damage to the ship could have unforeseen effects... Probably. He wasn't a ship nerd.

As for the Allan's attempt at entering the turbolift - it was successful, even despite the fact that he was interrupted by Kinaen's rumble. He may continue the repairs!

Look at that! Like magic! Amazing how technology worked. "Yeah, probably... for the best there - Well, hey, doors open fine, that's - good, then... hm. Transporter room?" He asked as a test for the voice recognition, but upon it not doing shit that it usually would, like saying oh hey, dipshit, you're already in that area, it didn't do anything at all which prompted him to step inside of it, carefully because of that weird rumbling shit. "I'd recommend we probably treat her gently, then. If possible..." And perhaps even just saying that caused him to just take the paneling off to fix the voice recognition just a bit more carefully than he normally would.

Saren, if possible, paled even more, the rumble of the ship sending just a cascade of the most unpleasant, alarming sensations down his spine... "Think it's the core," he exhaled a tad too sharply, coming closer to Allan. "At least that's the first thing that comes to mind. I refuse to assume that the ship is feeling pain, that is a bit too... I prefer to read scenarios like that on paper, not exist through them."

After some time and work... the lift was working! At least some positives in this suddenly space horror-ish... thing!

"Then..." he looked back at Saren as he finished up fixing the wiring within the voice recognition box, it seemed more like an overload had happened here? Maybe? It wasn't entirely clear what when it came to this part. "We should make that our next destination, maybe...?" He asked as he tested the turbolift again, "Transporter room?" And it would probably not -actually- return with 'oh hey, dipshit, you're already in that area', but rather something saying that a little bit more nicely.

"Hm. Suggesting we check out engineering, first?" that would make sense, considering that they had two engineers on the team. "I like that idea. Think we should communicate that to the rest of the teams and also see where they're going. Let me..." Chirp, went his commbadge.

After finishing his little chitchat, he lowered his hand, giving his (dream)team a careful lookover. "Well... let's go and look at that singularity core? I have a feeling that the two of you have never seen one before, it's actually... quite a sight to behold."

"Sounds good to me if it's good with you guys," he said, looking over at the rest of his (dream)team as well. A smile came to his face actually as Saren pointed out again that this ship had a singularity core on it. "Oh, absolutely not, not in person, at least - I mean, I've seen it a bunch in like, videos and shit, but like - a real one, I - yeah, I'm kinda excited? Actually?" He laughed, it was definitely a huge difference between seeing something like that in a video or a textbook page than, well, in person.

Lieutenant Eshen K'Tann | CMD BOT 22-Apr-23 10:09 PM
"I've never seen one in videos either!" He'd never needed to look it up and he'd never thought to either. "It'll be like a fun little outing for us, despite everything." Including Alizati, who was being very silent right now. "To the turbolift, then?" He asked, holding out his hands for the two of them to hold again.

"You're in for a treat, then," he nodded a yes at Eshen's question, his gaze then lowering to... linger on the offered hand. Ah. Ah, fuck. Actually... Fuck it. Saren puffed out a laugh, then glancing at Alizati, the other half-Vulcan in the room, with the most apologetic look he could currently muster: "Sir... you might want to cover your eyes for a bit?.." And with that, he got ahold of one of Eshen's hands, feeling weirdly giddy over such an open display, fucking hell, he should get his shit together - and stepped into the turbolift.

And on that homosexual note, the lift closed its doors and set the course for engineering.
